Resources and Opportunities : Partnership on Workforce Education and Readiness (POWER) programs

The Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce has developed Partnership on Workforce Education and Readiness (POWER) programs to help high school students be better prepared for jobs in the New Economy and to make them aware of local opportunities for employment.

Two programs are underway in the 2008-2009 academic year. “Skills for Success,” now in its third year, brings business representatives into local high schools to educate students about job opportunities available in Flagstaff.

“Arizona Academic Scholars,” new this year, encourages students in 8th and 9th grade to take a more rigorous curriculum during high school, including additional years of math and science. During the fall semester, the Chamber made presentations to 9th graders at Sinagua High School and Flagstaff High School. Presentations to 8th graders begin in the spring.

For more information, please call the Flagstaff Chamber at 928/774-4505.
