Resources and Opportunities : Healthcare Group of Arizona

Healthcare Group of Arizona (HCG) was launched in October, 1987, as a means of providing health care coverage to a large but underserved population of Arizonans: Small business owners and their employees. HCG is a guaranteed issue health plan for uninsured small businesses with 50 or fewer employees and political subdivisions. With a variety of options to fit any budget and level of physical health, HCG provides vital health care coverage to thousands of members across the State of Arizona.

If you are a sole proprietor or small business owner, Healthcare Group is designed with you in mind. Eligibility requirements are:

  • The business must have 50 or fewer employees;
  • The business cannot have had group health insurance for the past 180 days or six months (this does not apply to individual coverage); and
  • The business must be an active business in Arizona for at least 60 days.
  • If you are a political subdivision (e.g., a city, town, county), there are no employee limits or eligibility requirements.

Healthcare Group provides multiple products at reasonable prices:

  • HMO (Varying levels of coverage, deductibles and co-payments)
  • PPO with expanded pharmacy coverage
  • High-deductible PPO that can be paired with a Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Dental coverage
  • Vision coverage
