Actions in Progress : Local Beef

As Americans become more aware of what they eat, where it comes from and how it is produced, ranchers and farmers have been finding ways to direct-market their products. Some have pursued direct-marketing on their own on a small scale within their community, while others have created co-ops of producers that have had success on a large scale.

Action steps include:

  • Determine the need for a local beef processing facility.
  • Build in-county infrastructure to process local beef, lamb and other foods and their byproducts for local consumption.
  • Assist ranchers with promotion and marketing of local beef.
