Implementation

SEDI pursues its goals and mission through the work plans of its action teams. Additional challenges or opportunities are addressed by special task forces or project teams.

In order to more firmly tie the work of the action teams to SEDI overall, each team has developed missions, goals and tactics that closely mirror those of the organization as a whole. These are detailed on each of the action team home pages (see left menu).

In January of 2008, the SEDI Board of Directors gathered for a retreat to focus on strategic goals and high priority next steps for its action teams. Three interconnected factors were identified as critical to the success of sustainable economic development in northern Arizona:

  1. green education
  2. green workforce training
  3. support for green business development

This “Green Triangle” concept was further developed at the SEDI 2008 Conference in November and became the organizing priinciple of SEDI. At the January 2009 Board Retreat SEDI's 2009 projects were determined based on the need to develop interconnections within the Green Triaingle.

Finally, a Strategic Communications and Marketing Plan and a Funding and Investment Plan, both closely tied to the goal and project framework of the organization, provide important and needed resource support to SEDI’s efforts to advance sustainable economic development in the region.
